BIRDS OF PREY SWOOP IN TO VISIT
Throughout the weekend the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program will have live raptors on display and will conduct educational presentations designed to promote the value of raptors and the environment and teach ways in which the public can become involved.
FEED YOUR MIND
Families can journey back to the roots of Colorado and have fun learning about the state’s pioneer past, nature, and environment. In the Festival of Mountain and Plain area, featured artisans will demonstrate Navajo weaving and culture, spinning, rug braiding, lace crocheting, felting, and quilting, along with the popular blacksmith demonstrations.
SCOUTING - FROM A TO Z
Adventure Base 100, a premiere exhibit and celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America, will make its sole Colorado stop at A Taste of Colorado. The interactive 8,000-square-foot campus includes a high-adventure ropes course, multi-sensory IMAX-like video, a traveling scouting museum, and more. Avoid the registration lines by pre-registering for your free Passport at adventurebase100.org.
FROM PUZZLE-SOLVING AND READING TO COOKING AND CREATIVITY
Parents and children are invited to discover a whole new side of gaming at Nintendo’s Discovery Zone. Hands-on activities and exciting games will allow the whole family to get in the zone and play!
THE LONE STAR STATE HITS THE ROAD
Texas on Tour will be offering interactive and virtual adventures to festivalgoers. Learn about the state of Texas in the dome theater or take a virtual kayak ride through the Gulf of Mexico and the Rio Grande.
HELP RESCUE A HOMELESS PET
Stop by Purina® Pro Plan® Rally to Rescue® and learn from a Rally to Rescue ambassador about the program's advocacy for pet rescue and adoption. The organization has found homes for more than 314,000 dogs and cats since the program began in 2005. Consider taking home an adoptive pet and help meet their goal of 400,000 adoptions by the end of 2010.
HAVE A KID-SIZED PORTION OF SOMETHING TASTY & EXOTIC
Kid-friendly food vendors will be located along the perimeter of the KidZone selling hot dogs, pretzels, popcorn, and more. A Taste of Colorado is also an opportunity for parents to encourage their children to try new foods from places like the Caribbean, the Middle East, Poland, Asia, and India, as many of the restaurants offer "taste-sized" portions for one to three tickets.
