Singer-songwriter and dance-chart favorite Taylor Dayne will headline the Main Stage at the 33rd annual A Taste of Colorado. Dayne will perform Sunday, Sept. 4, at 1:30 p.m. and is presented by MIX 100. The four-day, free admission, food, music, and entertainment Festival will take place Labor Day weekend, Sept. 2 through Sept. 5, in Downtown Denver’s Civic Center Park.
Over three consecutive decades, her platinum pop singles and chart-topping dance hits have sold 75 million singles and albums. Originally signed by music mogul Clive Davis in the 1980s, Dayne has become a true crossover artist, someone whose popularity spans multiple generations and many different music forms. She became a pop sensation in late 1987 with her debut single from the double platinum selling album of the same name, “Tell It to My Heart,” followed by “Love Will Lead You Back” and “Prove Your Love to Me,” all three landing number one on the charts. She toured worldwide, including joining Michael Jackson for the European leg of his sold-out “Bad” tour, and did a one-off with Prince in his Lovesexy tour in 1988.
Several of her albums featured her own compositions, and “Whatever You Want,” a song she co-wrote for Tina Turner, became a Top 40 hit in 10 different countries in 1996. Dayne is also an established actress, appearing with Warren Beatty in the film, “Love Affair,” and with shows like Elton John’s “Aida.”
After a break to raise her two children, she continued her music career with the release of her 2008 album entitled, “Satisfied.” The album’s single, “Beautiful,” made it into the Top 10 on the Billboard charts and was number one on the dance charts. In 2011, she released her 18th Top 10 hit, “Floor on Fire.” Dayne was formally recognized for her musical talent during her induction into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2012, joining luminaries Billy Joel and Joan Jett.
Dayne currently tours the country in support her “Greatest Hits Live” CD, which includes a new single, “Dreaming,” available on iTunes.
